I went to visit the Pachey (my friend Rachel from Cornell) at Penn State last weekend.  I met a bunch of her friends/colleagues, reunited with her cute cats, and pretended I was a college student again.  It was slightly crazy.  I forgot how cheap beer is in college towns.  Pachey and her friends had their annual ADDF (all day drunk fest).  Drinking and games all day.  I learned a new game called Bowl of Nouns.  It incorporates catch phrase, charades, and “one-word”.  It’s awesome.  I look forward to passing it on to another group of people.

The really crazy part of the trip was coming home.  My flight from State College to Philadelphia was delayed.  This meant I was going to miss my flight from Philadelphia to San Francisco.  US Airways arranged for me to take a flight from Philadelphia to Washington, DC and then from Washington, DC to San Francisco.

Unfortunately, my flight from Philadelphia to DC was delayed, so I missed my flight to SF by a couple minutes.  I was stuck in DC since there were no flights until the morning.  Shit.

I decided that I’m at that age where I can afford to get a hotel room for a night instead of sleeping in an airport.  I took a taxi to the Dulles Hyatt and arranged for two wake up calls to ensure I didn’t miss my super early flight (6am).  Take a guess what happened next.  No wake up calls!  I woke up around 6:10am and freaked out of course.  Fortunately, United was extremely helpful and put me on the next flight.

Middle seat across the country.  Fun.

I got back to SF, jumped on the BART, and switched to Caltrain in Millbrae.  I had to get to work since I was so late.  The train stopped in Menlo Park and everyone was kicked off due to a suicide in Mountain View.  Unbelievable.  So close to work.  My extremely generous office manager came to rescue me with her car.

Crazy traveling.  Indeed.
