Los Angeles vacation

I went to visit various family members in the Los Angeles area for Memorial Day weekend.  Here’s a little rundown of what I did.

The night I arrived I had dinner at an old LA favorite, El Cholo.  Fajitas.  Too much food.  Delicious.  After a thorough food coma we went to The Parlor and had a few drinks.  I got a chance to hang out with a pseudo celebrity formally known as Mr. Boston (my cousin’s boyfriend’s best friend).

The second day I had lunch with my old chess tutor, Parag Mallick, at the Little Next Door.  It was so great to see him.  It had been far too long.  He now works for UCLA and USC as a Professor and cancer researcher.  After lunch I drove out to the Valley to visit my grandmother in the hospital (she fell that morning but was okay).  For dinner I met up with the Jacksons (Aunt, Uncle and cousin).  That night I watched The Girlfriend Experience — somewhat entertaining and thought-provoking.  For dessert we had Yogurtland, a self-serve, pay by the ounce yogurt shop.

My last day started off with going to the gym with Uncle Mark.  I ran 2 miles and rowed a 10K (my first!).  Very cool.  For lunch I walked over to Urth Caffe, and then walked around Rodeo Drive for a while.  I love the Porsche Design store.  My Aunt and Uncle had some friends over.  BBQ, chili, Crown, wine, etc.  Lots of fun.  I ended the night with a Pinkberry run.  Sweet.

This morning I had a 6:30AM flight to San Francisco.  I landed and went straight to work.  Now, I’m typing this.  Haha.

Great trip.  I thoroughly enjoy visiting my family.  The cars are nice to gawk at too.
